The Inconceivable Issue

Inconceivable- Spring ‘25

Dear Reader,

Inconceivable: Adjective “not capable of being imagined or grasped mentally: unbelievable.”

This word became beloved by a classic late 80s film. While it may not be a word in your vocabulary, it perfectly captures the moment we’re in.

We are no longer seeing the climate crisis as a distant threat, but a reality we’ve placed ourselves in much sooner than we hoped. As showcased in this edition, heat waves are becoming more frequent and uncomfortable for us in light of climate change.

Within these pages, you’ll find groups and individuals who are not accepting the answers they were given and are fighting for better ones. The Makah tribe is fighting for their right to whale, while Eba, the whale scat sniffing dog, is fighting to find them in our waters.

This edition doesn’t contain easy answers. But I hope it makes you think, makes you wonder what changes you may be able to make in your day-to-day life. After reading these stories, I hope you can reflect and become a cog in the machine, fighting towards environmental advocacy.
